Desert Title & Tag has titled many military vehicles in Arizona.

If You Own A Military Vehicle
Government owned vehicles don’t have titles, at least while government owned.  The Feds use a document called “Form 97”, which looks similar to titles and contains much of the same information. Vehicles manufactured for the military still have VIN’s. They just don’t conform to normal requirements of NTSA (National Traffic and Safety Administration).   None the less, Arizona MVD policies allow us to take Form 97 and convert it to an AZ title.

MVD Rules Have Changed
The rules used to require a VIN inspection (Level 1) that was only available from MVD. Most Authorized third party companies have contracted VIN inspectors that are allowed to perform Level 1 inspections but were not allowed to inspect the “Form 97” vehicles, but in recent years they have made that available to us as well. Inspection policies have continued to change. Now, MVD has all but removed requirements for inspections. So, if you have a Form 97 vehicle, you can simply bring your form to Desert Title & Tag and obtain an Arizona title for it.

Matt Walker – Collector
Just the other day, I went out to do inspections on a couple military vehicles that didn’t have any ownership documentation.  The inspections were for bond titles.  My travels led me to Matt Walker of Gilbert.  I was amazed!  This guy has 20 or more military vehicles in several garages!  He is a collector but I think he should open a museum!  He acquires these things and then restores them for fun.  He told me that the military had, at one point, only used five types of jeeps and he has all five.  I’ll attach pictures of some.  A lot of these he has plated and can drive them on the street.  Kudos to Matt Walker!
